Tested child safety

Protection from the start!

How do I find the perfect baby monitor for me?

For parents, the safety and well-being of their children is paramount. Especially when you have put your child to bed, you want to make sure that your little darling is well at all times. Since you cannot sit with your sleeping child all the time and worry about his or her health, it is important to provide reliable monitoring.

Which type are you: Audio or video baby monitor?

If you don't already know the answer to the question (or are just curious) you can take the following test.
Answer the questions either yes or no. Remember your answers!

1.

Do you ever go back to your flat to check if you have really turned off the iron, the cooker or all the lights?

2.

Do you check your mirrors every time you drive?

3.

Do you check your pockets to see if your wallet and co. are still there?

Now comes the evaluation:

If you answered yes to 2 out of 3 questions, you are definitely the video baby monitor type. But that's only the first decision. There are endless models on the market for baby monitors. We tell you which functions are a must and which optional functions offer real added value.

What features should a good baby monitor have?

For the sake of your baby's health, but also for your own health, the device should be low in radiation and, for a restful sleep on your side, should not emit any disturbing noises, but only the noises that your baby makes. An integrated VOX function (sometimes also called intelligent sound activation) is therefore mandatory. This means that the units of the baby monitor only connect when your baby makes sounds. Otherwise, the device automatically switches to sleep mode.

In addition, the baby unit should be able to be switched manually to ECO mode. This significantly reduces the radiation of the unit as soon as it is in sleep mode. Both features also ensure lower energy consumption.

In this day and age, your privacy is also important to us, which is why we believe that a good baby monitor should be bug-proof. This is best achieved using FHSS (for a classic baby monitor) or IP technology (for a smart baby monitor) in an encrypted network.

Which additional features are recommendable?

We find an intercom function very practical. This allows you to calm your baby while you are still on your way to the nursery. The familiar sound of your voice alone can calm your baby and provide sufficient security - which is why you can sometimes even stay in bed.

Some children have problems falling asleep in complete darkness. A night light can help and some baby monitors have an integrated night light. The soft twilight helps many children to fall asleep and gives them a feeling of security. This way, your little one doesn't need to be afraid of the dark and won't be disturbed while sleeping. So if you don't have an extra night light, look for a baby monitor with a night light.

A built-in music box is also great. Babies find it easier to fall asleep with soothing, gentle melodies. A music box in the baby monitor should have different lullabies and nature sounds that reliably accompany your baby into the land of dreams.

Especially for inexperienced parents, it can often be a challenge to find the right room temperature for the baby to fall asleep. A temperature control can help you avoid temperature fluctuations and always maintain a comfortable room temperature for your baby. The built-in temperature sensor in a baby monitor automatically measures the room temperature. Such devices usually even send an alarm to your baby monitor unit.

As you can see, there is nothing left to be desired when choosing the right baby monitor.

Well, which one will you choose
