Mission Child Welfare

At reer, we are convinced that our actions can make a difference in the world. That is why we support social projects and organisations around the world. This is our mission for the welfare of children

"We believe that our products can make the world a little safer. But there are also problems that we cannot solve with our products. That is why we are committed to supporting various institutions in our local community and wherever children and families need help" - Tobias Mörk (CEO)

This is Africachild e.V.

Many of the young women who find refuge at Africachild Village became pregnant unintentionally – not through recklessness, but through forced marriage, sexual violence or abuse. They are often still children themselves and suddenly find themselves completely alone: rejected, marginalised, without any prospects.

This is where Africachild comes in. Since 2011, the organisation has been offering these girls a safe place to stay at Africachild Village in Kenya. A home where they can find peace, receive medical care and have the opportunity to get an education and training – for a life of dignity, for themselves and their children.

Why we support Africachild

We were deeply moved by the work of Africachild, because they provide support where help is often lacking: for young girls who become pregnant through abuse and suddenly find themselves completely on their own. Africachild not only gives these young mothers in Kenya a roof over their heads, but above all dignity, education and a future.

That is why we support this project – with donations, personal commitment and the firm belief that together we can bring about real change.

reer x Africachild - joint projects

From the first minibus to urgently needed repairs and the construction of a new septic tank, our partnership with Africachild has already enabled concrete, sustainable improvements in the village. Here is a small selection.

Renewal of the makuti roofs

The huts (called makutis) in Africachild Village are covered with banana leaves, as is customary in Kenya. These provide reliable protection from rain, but at the same time allow heat to escape upwards. However, the roofs are affected by the weather and wild monkeys, so they need to be repaired or replaced approximately every 5-7 years.
With our first donation, we are supporting Africachild in commissioning local craftsmen to completely renovate the roofs of the makutis, thereby also promoting the economy in the surrounding area.

The new septic tank

The old septic tank in Africachild Village was dilapidated and overloaded – a danger to health and the environment. Thanks to our joint donation, a new, modern facility could be built: larger, safer and sustainable for up to 60 people.
Instead of using machines, the pit was deliberately dug by hand – with pickaxes, saws and a lot of muscle power. This meant that local construction workers could be fairly remunerated and local families supported. For six weeks, they worked their way through the hard shell limestone – stone by stone. A project with impact.

Would you like to help too?

With every donation, you give affected mothers in Kenya security, the necessary care and the chance of an education. You help their children grow up healthy – in a large family.
